This holy place of pilgrimage is located in Jyotir Mahalinga Dham - known commonly today by the name Malunga - within the district of Shyangja, which is encircled by the River Kali Gandaki.
This particular place happens to be very auspicious for many reasons, and I shall share with all of you a few of them as mentioned in the Ved, Puran, Mahabharat and more.
First of all this Holi place of pilgrimage is so dear to the Vaishnavas because of the Lords presence there in the form of Lord Saligram and His greatest Devotee “Vaishnavanam Yatha Sambhu” Lord Shiva known as Sri Pasupatinath.
Second reason is that, most of the sages that we hear of in the Vedic Scriptures - including Parasara Muni, Vyasadeva, Markandeya Risi etc. - all reside most of the time near the Gandaki River for their Sadhana.

The above lines means that by daily remembering these 8 immortals (Ashwatthama, King Bali, Ved Vyasa, Hanuman, Vibhishan, Kripacharya, Parashuram and Rishi Markandaya) one can be free of all problems and live for 100 years. These are also called as 8 great warriors.
